Sgt. Kirby Sararas with the Brandon Police Service spoke on Tuesday about an incident that took place last weekend. Officers confronted a shoplifting suspect who pulled out a knife and stabbed himself in the cheek. Sararas says that in situations involving weapons it is simply not safe for social agencies to confront suspicious individuals and contacting police is the best response.
