Feds announce recruitment and retention allowances for nurses working in remote Indigenous communities

Canada's Minister of Indigenous Services Patty Hajdu announced on Tuesday that the federal government and the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada will increase retention and recruitment allowances for Indigenous Service Canada nurses who work in remote and isolated First Nations communities. "When a nurse leaves an isolated post, it not only poses staffing difficulties, but it really does threaten the health and well-being of the community," she said.
