Ukraine’s nuclear chief calls for demilitarized zone near Zaporizhzhia plant amid shelling

The head of Ukraine’s state nuclear power company Energoatom on Monday called for a demilitarized zone to be established at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant after the site was hit by shelling earlier this week. Meanwhile, the permanent representative of Ukraine to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Jewhenij Zymbaljuk, warned of “huge consequences” for Ukraine and all of Europe if a catastrophe were to occur at the nuclear plant.
