Emancipation Day in Peterborough: first steps in anti-racism efforts

188 years ago, Britain's parliament voted to abolish slavery across its empire. Now, Emancipation Day falls on August 1 in Canada. It's a reminder of the Black communities who fought to end slavery, a fight that many say is not yet over. Peterborough City Councillor Kemi Akapo says this day is important, and is one of many steps that need to be taken in anti-racism efforts. She joins Noor Ibrahim on Global News Morning Peterborough.
