Fire crews responded to a structure fire early Friday morning in Hamilton Township.
Just past 12:30 a.m., Peterborough fire services received multiple calls about a fire in the Ontario Street and Dale Road area.
Neighbours had woken to find the fire, and ran to warn others who lived just 100 feet away.
First responders say they could see the glow of smoke and flames for kilometres.
The fire had fully engulfed the structure, making it unsafe to enter.
Port Hope and Alnwick-Haldimand fire departments gave Peterborough crews a hand in putting it out.
It’s believed the structure was abandoned when the fire began.
As of 9:00 a.m. Friday, no cause had been confirmed.
