Monkeypox: ‘Need to be aware’ how it transmits as cases rise in Canada, says Njoo

Canada’s deputy chief public health officer Dr. Howard Njoo said Thursday that as cases of monkeypox continue to rise in Canada, having increased by 59 per cent in nine days, people “need to be aware” of how it transmits. He said it requires a type of close, physical contact from an infected person, especially through lesions or through bodily fluid. Njoo said while it doesn’t spread like COVID-19, people still need to take proper precautions.
