In a clip shown during a hearing of the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot on Tuesday, former Attorney General William Barr can be heard recounting that then-President Donald Trump asked to have the Department of Justice seize voting machines. Barr had refused the request due to a lack of probable cause. The hearing also displayed an executive order drafted by several of Trump’s advisors to appoint American attorney Sidney Powell as Special Counsel with the power to seize voting machines, which former White House counsel Pat Cipollone “vehemently opposed.”
