Two years ago, headlines in Canada noted a "dog shortage." People looking to adopt a pet, especially dogs, were in line with thousands of other Canadians with the same idea. When 2021 began, the tide started to turn, with people slowly realizing either their post-pandemic schedule wouldn't accommodate a pet, or, the new commitment of a companion at home wasn't what they were expecting.
