Amid calls for action on gun control in the U.S., Congress on Wednesday heard from families of victims including Kimberly Mata-Rubio, who recounted how she and her husband had attended an award ceremony for her daughter Lexi just hours before she was killed in a mass shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas. "To celebrate we promised to get her ice cream that evening. We told her we loved her and we would pick her up after school. I left my daughter at school and that decision will haunt me for the rest of my life. We seek to raise the age to purchase these weapons from 18 to 21 years of age, we seek red-flag laws, stronger background checks. We also want to repeal gun manufacturers' liability and immunity," Rubio said.
