When asked about the long lineups and backlog for passport applications and renewals across Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters on Tuesday that his government has already started taking action. He said that the hiring process of 500 new passport workers began roughly last December to address an impending backlog as global economies continue to open up following the pandemic.
