Trudeau sidesteps question on if Canada ‘exists on stolen Indigenous land’

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sidestepped a question Monday evening on whether he believed Canada "exists on stolen Indigenous land," saying that the country consists of Indigenous people who existed here "for a millennia" and welcomed in settlers. He said the country exists today with a commitment to learn from the past and do better, adding there was a lot to improve on right now "informed by the past" and connecting with others.
