Civilians evacuated from besieged Mariupol steel plant

May 1, 2022
Some of the civilians who were trapped for weeks inside the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, Ukraine have finally been evacuated. So far, around 100 civilians have escaped, but as many as 100,000 more remain trapped inside the besieged city in total. Jennifer Johnson has more on the evacuation effort and a surprise visit to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.

Civilians evacuated from besieged Mariupol steel plant

Some of the civilians who were trapped for weeks inside the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, Ukraine have finally been evacuated. So far, around 100 civilians have escaped, but as many as 100,000 more remain trapped inside the besieged city in total.
