Manitoba floods: Government touts investments in flood-mitigating infrastructure as emergency official warns flooding ‘not over yet’
Description
April 29, 2022
At a press conference in Winnipeg on Friday, provincial Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Doyle Piwniuk and other officials provided an update on the current Manitoba floods. Addressing the government’s response to the flooding, Doyle touched on the investment made by the government into flood mitigation projects and climate infrastructure, such as Manitoba Highway 75 being raised and the upgrade of provincial road 246. Environment Canada has put much of the southern part of the province under a rainfall warning, with several municipalities already declaring local states of emergency over the rising water levels.
