Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly said Wednesday that Canada would announce more sanctions against Russia in the coming days, saying the goal is to “suffocate the Russian regime” and ensure there are “no loopholes.” She also said she had had her deputy minister summon Russia’s ambassador to Canada to “make sure he is presented with the images of what happened” in the Ukrainian communities of Irpin and Bucha.
