Health Canada advisor on the difference between protein-based and mRNA vaccines
Description
February 17, 2022
Dr. Supriya Sharma, Chief medical avdisor with Health Canada, explained on Thursday the different approaches in which protein-based and mRNA vaccines work to provide immunity against COVID-19 amid the approval of the Novavax vaccine. mRNA vaccines contain molecular manufacturing instructions for the body to make the spike protein, but protein-based vaccines contain a modified version of the spike protein itself.
