Sidney Poitier, the legendary actor who was the first Black man to ever win an Academy Award, died at the age of 94, according to reports on Friday. He was known for numerous films including: “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” and “To Sir, With Love.” He acted in more than 50 films and directed nine, was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1974, and awarded the U.S. highest civilian honour, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in 2009. Poiter won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in 1963’s “Lilies of the Field.”
