Dr. Anthony Fauci, the leading infectious disease expert in the U.S., told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday that there will be breakthrough infections as the Omicron COVID-19 variant spreads throughout the United States. He added that “the real problem” for the U.S. health-care system is that “we have so many people in this country who are eligible to be vaccinated who have not yet been vaccinated.”
