Auditor General of Canada Karen Hogan said it was “long past time” to fix the situation for temporary foreign workers after her report found the systems that are in place to safeguard the workers in the agricultural sector “provided little assurance of protection” of their health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. She said it speaks to a systemic problem and urged “immediate” action.
