The World Health Organization agreed Wednesday to launch negotiations on an international pact to prevent and control future pandemics. Such an agreement to beef up measures is expected to be ready in May 2024, covering issues such as data sharing, genome sequencing, and the equitable distribution of vaccines and drugs.
