Although it is an immense honour no parent wants, the National Silver Cross Mother represents every mother who has lost a son or daughter in military service. For Remembrance Day 2021, Josée Simard will bear the title as she honours her daughter Cpl. Karine Blais, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2009. Mike Armstrong explains how Simard always feels her daughter’s presence, and how the village of Les Méchins, Quebec is remembering the soldier.
