The Canadian Legion announced 2021’s Silver Cross Mother on Monday. Josée Simard from Quebec’s Gaspé region is the mother of Corporal Karine Blais, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2009 while serving as a member of the Royal 22nd Regiment. Mike Armstrong met with Blais’ mother, who describes her daughter as the child every parent hopes to have.
