Freeland announces new COVID-19 financial supports as current ones set to expire Oct. 23

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland announced on Thursday that the federal government is rolling out new business related COVID-19 benefits while also extending some personal supports. She says broad financial supports that are set to expire on Oct. 23 will become more targeted. Freeland said that jobs lost due to the pandemic have now been recovered 100 per cent and says benefits could “snap back” if another wave were to hit.
