The Magpie River in Eastern Quebec is the first ecosystem in Canada to be granted personhood rights, joining a global movement using a legal revolution to save the planet. And as Krista Hessey found out for The New Reality, it was an alliance among a First Nation, the local county, and a group of paddlers that came together to protect the Magpie from development.
