CDC director Rochelle Walensky defended the agency’s decision to allow those living and working in high-risk settings to access a third COVID-19 vaccine shot, despite the designation being rejected by an advisory panel. Walensky said she “did not overrule” the panel, but that it was a “scientific close call” and it was hers to make.
