Canada election: Conservatives promise employment insurance for gig workers

Conservative leader Erin O’Toole announced on Thursday that if re-elected, his government will require companies that hire gig economy workers to make contributions similar to CPP and EI premiums into a new portable employee savings account every time they pay their workers.
