Soleiman Faqiri was an inmate at the Central East Correctional Centre when he died in his cell during an altercation with guards. Faqiri, suffering from worsening schizophrenia, died facedown on his cell floor, wearing a spit hood. A coroner’s report states he had dozens of blows to his body. For years his family has called for further investigation. Earlier this week a report from Ontario’s top pathologist states that Faqiri’s death was due to the actions of guards at the super jail. His brother Yusuf spoke to Global News Morning Peterborough anchor Noor Ibrahim about the report, and what’s next.
