White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Monday that the airstrikes carried by the U.S. military against Iranian-backed groups in Syria that were announced Sunday were justified by Article II of the Constitution in self-defense of U.S. interests. The airstrikes were carried near the border between Iraq and Syria, drawing condemnation from Iraq’s military and calls for revenge by the militias.
