Japan’s PM says ‘natural’ not to hold Olympics if public cannot be protected amid COVID-19

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said on Wednesday that it is “natural” not to hold the Tokyo Summer Olympics if public lives cannot be protected during the Games amid the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that it was regrettable he had been taking “all the blame” while the host city’s governor was not at the forefront of the debate. The Games are currently scheduled to begin on July 23.
