India surpasses daily COVID-19 global death record as volunteers tend to sick and dead

India recorded the highest single-day death toll in the world on Wednesday, a total of 4,529 in the past 24 hours, surpassing the previous record for most daily deaths set in January by the U.S., when Johns Hopkins University data reported 4,475 people died. Despite the risk of transmission however, various groups of volunteers worked to help the country combat the pandemic by driving ambulances and even burying the dead. Sean Previl reports.
