Top U.S. infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Friday that he is taking “seriously” and closely following rare instances of breakthrough infections of COVID-19, which are cases where people who have been vaccinated still get infected. Fauci added the infections are “not surprising,” and that they could happen with any vaccination or when vaccinating a large population.
