Looking ahead for the City of Kawartha Lakes
Description
March 9, 2021
When the COVID-19 pandemic began, the City of Kawartha Lakes quickly became the province’s epicentre for the virus, following an outbreak at Bobcaygeon’s Pinecrest Nursing Home which claimed the lives of 28 residents.
But within the past year, the municipality has turned a corner. Case numbers are down, and as many regions tighten restrictions, the City of Kawartha Lakes saw its case numbers drop and recently the region moved to the Yellow Zone.
The city is also ahead of schedule on several infrastructure projects and council passed the lowest tax increase in a decade.
Mayor Andy Letham spoke to Katrina Squazzin about current projects and what's coming up for the municipality.
