U.S. election: Mitch McConnell delivers rebuke to challenge of electoral votes

Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell delivered a strong rebuke of the challenge to Arizona’s electoral votes and any further challenges to the electoral vote count taking place Wednesday in a joint session of Congress, stating an attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election would “damage the republic forever” and said he would vote to “respect the people’s decision” and against any objections to the count. Congress is meeting to count the votes from the Electoral College, if an objection to votes is heard and debate is forced, both the House of Representatives and Senate each have to vote in the majority to uphold the objection.
