Coronavirus: WHO says no evidence that new strain of virus in South Africa is more transmissible

World Health Organization technical lead for COVID-19 Maria Van Kerkhove on Tuesday discussed a new strain of the virus found in South Africa and dubbed the 501Y.V2 variant, saying that there's no evidence at this point that the new strain has an increased transmissibility when compared to the strain found in the United Kingdom. She says there are many studies underway in South Africa at the moment.
