As COVID-19 continues to jeopardize the lives of everyone, a silent epidemic in the Peterborough and the Kawarthas has been killing residents at a much higher rate.
Peterborough is closing off 2020 with almost 40 suspected or confirmed opioid deaths, and Kawartha Lakes just recorded a spike on Tuesday.
