Coronavirus: Ford tells restaurant owner who opened for in-person dining, ‘you need to shut down’

Ontario Premier Doug Ford delivered a message to the owner of an Etobicoke barbecue restaurant that defied the province’s lockdown order and opened for in-person dining, telling him he is putting people’s lives in jeopardy. “Buddy, let me tell you something— you need to shut down,” he said, before calling on Ontarians to work together to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus. The restaurant was eventually served a closure order by officials Tuesday afternoon, but it indicated on social media it intended to allow for indoor dining again, though it was not immediately clear Wednesday if it did reopen.
