Trudeau says Ottawa ‘strongly condemns’ violence toward Mi’kmaq amid Nova Scotia fisheries dispute

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said during an emergency debate in the House of Commons Monday that his government “strongly condemns” violence toward the Mi’kmaq community amid escalating tensions in Nova Scotia over its moderate livelihood lobster fishery. Trudeau said the community has a treaty right to fish “without being subjected to threats or racism.”
