Premier Legault calls toppling of John A. Macdonald statue ‘unacceptable’

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Quebec Premier Francois Legault said the toppling of a Montreal-area statue of Sir John A. Macdonald during weekend anti-racism rallies was ‘unacceptable,’ and that the statue will be restored put back in place. “We need to fight against racism, but that’s not the way to do it… We have to respect the history,” Legault said.
