Coronavirus: New Zealand PM postpones general election until Oct. 17 amid new outbreak

New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced on Monday that the general election would be postponed by four weeks until October 17, as the country tackles a new outbreak of COVID-19. On Sunday, New Zealand recorded 13 confirmed infections, bringing the number of active cases to 69. Ardern also put Auckland, the country’s largest city, under a two-week lockdown last week.
