The death of George Floyd in May renewed calls to defund the police, taking funds away from local police budgets and investing it into social programs and mental health supports. It’s an issue that has left Canadians divided and new IPSOS polling exclusively for Global News found respondents evenly split, with 51 per cent in support and 49 per cent opposed to defunding police.
