U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said that despite increasing calls to defund police departments, it is something his administration would never do, and called the movement a "fad," adding he stands with law enforcement. The calls to defund police has grown over the past several weeks in the wake of police brutality cases and protests against anti-Black racism, following the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, who died in police custody on Memorial Day after a white former police officer knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes. He died from asphyxiation as a result.
