‘Golden State Killer’ pleads guilty, will avoid death penalty

Warning: This video contains disturbing language. Discretion advised. The man known as the Golden State Killer, whose real name is Joseph James DeAngelo Jr., pleaded guilty on Monday to 88 charges that will see him spend life in prison in exchange for avoiding the possibility of the death penalty. He is charged with 13 counts of first-degree murder in five California counties, and is accused of committing more than 60 rapes in the 1970s and the 1980s, which he could not be criminally charged with because too much time has passed.
