White House says Trump signed off on Barr request to dismiss U.S. Attorney Berman

During a White House press briefing on Monday, Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said that U.S. President Donald Trump had signed off on a request from Attorney Gen. William Barr to dismiss U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman. McEnany’s comment came after Trump told reporters on Saturday that he had not been involved in the effort, despite Barr’s statement that he had. McEnany said Barr took the lead, but the president was involved.
