Following a homecoming ceremony on the tarmac near the Halifax Stanfield International Airport on Sunday to honour Capt. Jennifer Casey, Canada’s Governor General – and former astronaut – Julie Payette said, “no matter how we train, we know there are risky parts within this job, and that’s why I’m so proud of them.” Casey, a military public affairs officer and Halifax native, died in the crash of a Snowbirds Tutor jet in a residential area of Kamloops, B.C., last Sunday.
