Trump says U.S. to pull out of ‘Open Skies’ treaty unless Russia adheres to it

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday his intention to pull the country out of the 35-nation “Open Skies” treaty allowing unarmed surveillance flights over member countries, unless Russia adheres to the pact’s terms. U.S. officials cited an effort by Russia to violate the terms of the treaty, according to reports, such as using its own overflights of American and European territory to identify critical U.S. infrastructure for potential attack in a time of war.
