World Health Organization Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that Wednesday marks three months since the WHO declared a state of emergency amid the spread of COVID-19. He said that members of WHO Emergency Committee have traveled to China and met with the Chinese president and other health officials before declaring a health emergency of global concern, and that the decision came when there were less than 100 cases of COVID-19 outside China, and no deaths.
