Coronavirus outbreak: New Brunswick overriding 30-day prescription drug limit

New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs announced on Thursday the province would be overriding the 30-day prescription drug limit, originally put in place due to concerns by the College of Pharmacists over the potential of drug shortages. He said people normally receiving 60 or 90-day refills were receiving prescriptions for only 30 days and in turn having to pay more dispensing fees and co-pays. In response to concerns about shortages, they would be convening a working group to track the province’s drug supply and a 30-day limit would be in place for certain drugs again should a shortage arise.
