Standoff at east-end Peterborough motel

Peterborough police were called to the Motel 6 on Lansdowne Street East around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
A man was standing in a room on the third floor holding what appears to be a knife.
He’s swearing and throwing glass from a broken window.
Police cleared bystanders from the parking lot next door while they tried to talk the man down.
No word on what sparked the incident or if anyone was hurt.
The man eventually surrendered to police around 7:15 p.m.
No word yet on charges.
Peterborough police on Wednesday morning said officers, along with the Emergency Response Unit and Canine Unit, responded to an incident involving an “agitated male” inside a Lansdowne Street motel room.

Police say the man turned himself over without incident to police.

No word yet on if any charges are pending.
