Coronavirus outbreak: Canada’s top doctor says wearing non-medical masks can be additional measure to protect others

During a COVID-19 update on Friday, Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam addressed questions regarding the general population wearing masks to protect against the virus, saying that medical masks should be kept for those managing patients, but wearing non-medical masks is an additional measure that can be done to protect others. She stressed that it is important to learn how to use a mask properly, including proper hand hygiene before and after applying the mask, and adjusting the fit.
