Hillary Clinton says US / Taliban peace treaty ‘will not hold’ if women are excluded

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took a swipe on Tuesday at the Trump administration’s deal with Taliban insurgents, warning at the United Nations that it would be “difficult to have an agreement when you leave out the government of the country that you are expecting to uphold and live under that agreement.” She also said that Afghan women were “rightly afraid” that “gains they have made with all of our help will be washed away in a rush to achieve a peace that will not hold anyway.” Clinton was speaking at a meeting at the United Nations on Afghan women’s rights.
