Coronavirus outbreak: Dr. Anthony Fauci says the U.S. will not have COVID-19 vaccine in under a year

During his testimony before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Wednesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious diseases, said the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is hoping to begin clinical trials on a coronavirus vaccine within three to four months. Phase-one of the trials will include 45 people and will take three to four months, and, if successful, the NIH will go to phase-two trial on hundreds to thousands of individuals. Phase-two trial will take from a year to a year and a half, according to Dr. Fauci, before doctors can be fully confident that they have a working vaccine.
